IMPORTANT NOTICE: I have nothing against these average looking men. They are merely not my type. They are apparently everyone else's type. That's fine too.

Did you know this guy is 50 years old? He looks slightly plastic to me.

I suppose that a good thing to some.

Yeah. I never had a "Future Mrs. Kutcher" bracelet.

I respect that he makes comedies. He doesn't seem

to think he's too good to make fun of himself.

He's just a mean doctor. That's why people like him.

But in real life, people don't like mean doctors.

They feel like House has a reason to be mean because

he's so much smarter than everybody else. He doesn't.

I'm pretty sure everyone else thinks these guys are

good-looking because everyone else grew up liking

the characters. That's understandable. 

From an outsiders point of view they're

pretty average.

Audrey Hepburn and her very inspiring self

Happy Audrey Hepburn's birthday, everyone!

In honor of her birthday I'm posting an article I wrote about her sometime last year. Sadly, it's already embarrassing how poorly written it is. Oh well, I'm not a writer. Just a person who writes once in a while. Here it is! 

We’ve all heard of Audrey Hepburn. Right? We’ve seen the oh-so-famous photo from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” where she’s holding the uber long cigarette and wearing the big jewels. Well, at least most of us have. But do you know all the other reasons she’s famous? Did you know that before she began her acting career World War II broke out and she and her mother had to flee to Holland? Even there the Nazi troops marched right up to the Hepburn’s front door. They ended up living in a little house in the country with 40 other people, no heat and little food. Though even in those desperate circumstances Audrey pulled through. She taught the other children dance routines and held performances to raise money for the troops, even though they couldn't clap for fear of being found. Once the war finally ended Audrey realized her dreams of being a ballerina were hopeless due to the fact that she was too tall. So, she decided to try out acting instead. She ended up being in at least 31 movies. She not only nailed every roll but won over everybodys admiration in the process. She always had her lines memorized and still found time to do things like cook dinner for the whole cast and crew. She later went on to have 2 sons and when they were grown she put her fame to good use by becoming an ambassador for an organization called Unicef. It was the same organization that had helped her as a child during the war. And in 1989 she spoke to Congress and asked for help for all the people she had met during her travels. Funding for Unicef double and she inspired other celebrities to join the movement. You see, Audrey Hepburn’s life was not always as easy as she made it look in the movies but she chose joy over sorrow, and it’s that kind of outlook that’s an inspiration.

Adventures

I love adventures. In real life and in the movies. I'm not just talking about action movies, scary movies, or spy movies. Sometime those things are incorporated in adventures but they don't define them. Anyhoo, I'm super excited about a couple of upcoming things.

Liam Neeson's nose

Ever notice how Mr. Neeson's nose and forehead are all one piece? I mean obviously
the nose bone's connected to the forehead bone on everyone but have you seen him recently?
It's quite interesting. You can hardly tell where one ends and the other begins. On that note,
I only recently discovered that he was once a young, "good-looking" man. Honestly he's always
been more of a grandfather-ish seeming figure to me. That's all for now... Just a thought.
P.S. I hope I don't come across as stalkerly because I name blog posts things like "Liam Neeson's nose."

We Bought a Zoo

I liked it.

It was good.

Sad but good.

I was excited to see it but was kinda just expecting another 'Free Willy' meets 'Remember the Titans' type movie. Motivation, inspiration, save the animals, follow your dreams. Ya know? Nothing against 'Free Willy', 'Remember the Titans' or any other movie like that. Just trying to give you a mental picture.
Anyway, my loving parents gave it to me for my birthday so a couple days ago we watched it. My older siblings, my parents and I. We were quite pleasantly surprised. We really liked it. I liked that it was not only a love story between Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson's characters. It was not purely an animal drama and it was a lot about family. On top of that, it was actually quite funny too! I laughed a lot. I laugh easily though so I'll tell you this, the rest of my family laughed too. Another plus was that it was very clean. And the child actors did well. My apologies to any of you who are bothered by the fact that I started a sentence with "And".  My heart goes out to you but I'm really ok with it.

Anyway, good, good movie.

Watch it.

That is to say watch it if you'd like.

Or if you don't like.

But if you watch it and don't like, don't blame me.

I didn't tell you to watch it.

Or did I?

Now for a couple of things that you're wondering.

That weird looking, black, bearish type animal that you see a few times throughout the movie is a Binturong. Also known as a Bearcat. It's not actually related to bears though.

In real life Scarlett Johansson is 27 and Matt damon is 42. Did I just gross you out a little? Sorry.

Sherlock

A while back my brother and I (and sometimes my sister) began watching "Sherlock" by BBC.
To our delight we found it quite thrilling. It was witty, well-done and even had good acting. (Here comes the sad part of the story) The first season only had three episodes in it. What? Are you trying to tell me that they actually have to work on and put time and effort into each episode? Whatev! Anyway here's a couple of things I've been pondering while I wait for three more episodes to be released in the US.

1. Something that they did really well with "Sherlock" is... Modern communication! They text. Yet rather than having awkward scenes where the camera has to look over someones shoulder to see their phone or the character conveniently sets it down in front of the camera before walking out of the room, they show the messages on the screen. How simple is that?

2. I didn't know that Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) was considered handsome/good-looking. That is to say, I didn't know it until I started seeing pictures of him on pinterest with captions saying things like "Drool..." Oh my. What a way to sound intelligent. I guess I hadn't ever put much thought into his looks, though I suppose I can see it. Good hair, all his facial features in the right places, deep english accent. Moving on...

14 Awesome movie pets

I think that sometime all that's needed to make a movie complete is a good, respectable pet. here are some of my favorites.

"Annie"
Sandy. Sandy's a scraggly mutt, but we love her. Annie rescued Sandy from naughty boys and from getting sent to the pound.

"Tintin"
2. Snowy. Snowy is Tintin's little, white sidekick of a dog. He's smart and good a keeping up.

"The Young Victoria"
3. Dash. Dash is Queen Victoria's Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He got a bath every Thursday. His nickname was "Dashie." He really existed.

"Tangled"
4. Pascal. Pascal is a chameleon. He is really more like a protective older brother to Rapunzel. He puts up with a lot.

"Anastasia"
5. Pooka. Anastasia's peppy, little puppy who leads her to Vlad and Dimitri. (Very important)

"101 Dalmatians"
6. Pongo and Perdita. The Dalmatians in love. :) 

"Aladdin"
7. Rajah. Jasmine's tiger who is utterly awesome and makes all girls want one of their own.

"Breakfast at tiffany's"
8. Cat. The cat that lives with Holly Golightly. Though they don't belong to each other.

"Lady and the Tramp"
9. Lady. Rich and beautiful Cocker spaniel. The love interest of the Tramp.

"Peter Pan"
10. Nana. The dog who is actually the nanny to the three Darling children. So loyal.

"The Aristocats"
11. The Aristocats. (Duchess and kittens) The cat family that belongs to the nice, wealthy, old women with the evil butler and the funny lawyer.  

"The Sword in the Stone"
12. Archimedes. Merlin the wizard's cool but grumpy owl. 

"Looney Toones"
13. Tweety. Hopefully all my readers are awesome enough to not need an explanation for this one.

"The Wizard of Oz"
14. Toto. Dorothy's adorable little pup.

Review: The Young Victoria

I absolutely love this movie. Queen Victoria's story is a very inspiring one and from what I know they kept the movie pretty accurate. It's just a very well composed film. The writer, Julian Fellowes, is also the creator of "Downton Abbey" the BBC series about the dynamics between the wealthy Crawley family and their servants. Very interesting and well made show. Needless to say... This movie is fantastic!

Five things I love about "The Young Victoria:"

1. The Soundtrack is wonderful.
2. It has great cinematography.
3. It sticks very closely to the true story. (except for one particular part that I know is not quite accurate. Oh well.)
4. It's the first movie I saw Emily Blunt in. She's grand.
5. The costumes are divine.

The one particular part that I know for a fact is not true (see #3) is when Prince Albert takes a bullet to the arm for Victoria when someone attempts to shoot her as they ride by in the carriage. That didn't happen. There were several assassination attempts during Victoria's reign but no report of Prince Albert getting shot. In that particular incident the shot was fired by a crazy man by the name of Edward Oxford. He held two pistols and fired one after the other. Neither of the shots hit anyone. (Not a very good aim)
Though it is believed that Albert tried to interfere with, or put himself in the way of the bullet.
In 1840 The Times reported that Oxford...

Snow White Strikes Back!

I suppose this happened with Cinderella a while back. When people started taking the old classic fairytale and making it modern or twisting it this way or that, and then they would name their new movie something really unique and clever like "A Cinderella Story" or "Another Cinderella Story." Anyway, It's happening again, only this time it's Snow White whose taking over. In the last few months (ish) people have created three new Snow Whites.
The first one is Ginnifer Goodwin in "Once Upon A Time" the new ABC show from the makers of "Lost." It's a fantasy, drama where all the old fairytale characters are brought together in a cool way to make a really lame show. We had hope for it. All hope is gone. Do you remember how half of America was addicted to "Lost" and then after the last episode half of America sat on their couches making excuses and trying to bring themselves to the realization that the writers really didn't have a plan. They got us all tangled up in this "twisted plot" and then left us hanging with a million loose ends. Well I think that last episode of "Lost" was a foreshadowing of the series to come. Lame. It was pretty good at first but after a while it was just boring and unintriguing. Though she was immersed in this so-so series she made a pretty good Snow White. At least she was pretty with red lips and fair skin. though she did have a few "warrior princess" moments.

The second one is Kristen Stewart in "Snow White and the Huntsman." (Not yet released)
Who in their right mind would choose Kristen Stewart to play Snow White???
It's just not right. Snow White is supposed to be feminine and pretty. Not to mention that nobody can take her seriously in any other role but the tough vampire girl. (I can't even take her seriously in That role) Oh and then they throw Thor into the mix. Shouldn't he be working on "The Avengers"? All in all this one looks dark, dirty and dumb.





Last but not least! Lily Collins in "Mirror Mirror." (Also not yet released)
Ok, I'm excited for this one. Lily Collins actually seems to fit the part. AND Julia Roberts plays the evil queen! I also think it was a very smart move to make it a comedy. Looks very well done! Here's the trailer!
